Although some overseas destinations may well be cleared for travel this summer, much remains in doubt and stories of expensive Covid tests and compulsory quarantine probably mean that, for may Brits, 2021 is likely to be a summer of staycations.
That’s certainly the vibe we’re picking up from our friends at Love Home Swap, a members-only site which offers a load of stunning rural, urban and coastal properties across the British Isles. In fact, they tell us that – so far – the number of home swaps taking place in England, Scotland and Wales is more than twice the number recorded in 2019. The less said about 2020 the better.
Love Home Swap has been on the go since 2011, inspired by the movie “The Holiday”, proving that you can experience the joy of swapping homes and, to a certain extent, lives without having to sit through what we firmly believe to be a truly terrible film.
We may well miss the glorious weather promised by foreign holidays but there’s no doubt that remaining in the UK will give us the opportunity to remind ourselves of how beautiful these islands really are.
