prideflagSpaceNeedle1The city of Seattle will host its annual gay pride parade this weekend, but this year a rainbow-colored flag won’t be flying from the famous Seattle landmark, the Space Needle.

Space Needle officials told Q13 Fox that they support gay rights, but have no plans to display the flag this weekend after flying it at gay pride for at least the last two years.

The Space Needle management explained to Q13 Fox: “As we don’t raise any flag but the American flag on a regular basis, there are no plans to raise the Rainbow Flag again this year. We will continue to support equal rights and actively foster these causes as we have in the past.”

Space Needle officials reportedly said the same thing last year, then decided to challenge Seattle to raise $50,000 for LGBT charities. The goal was met, and the flag was raised.
