Jen_BristerThe team behind the Fourth SHOUT Festival of Queer Arts & Culture has today announced its line-up with the launch of a new-look website and Festival Brochure.

Between 28 February and 10 March, SHOUT will be presenting a range of events and activities around the festival theme of Generations and Legacies, including new theatre productions, performances, exhibitions, and the chance for Festival-goers to get involved.

Contributors to this year’s Festival include artist Tom Marshman, working with older LGBT people to produce Move Over Darling (9th March); and Birmingham Rep’s Pengy – SHOUT’s first piece of theatre aimed at young children and families, telling the real life story of two male penguins from New York’s Zoo who became a couple and adopted a chick called Tango.

Trans performer Mandy Romero’s brand new show In Excelsis (2nd March) explores moments of transition in the West Midlands in the 1970s; whilst We Love, We Make, We Exist (2nd March – 10th March) by photographer Marta Kochanek and Queer Family Tree with Lisa Metherell (2nd – 3rd, and 9th – 10th March) examine notions of family.

Abbe Robinson, Festival Producer said: ‘ We’re thrilled to announce our full SHOUT Festival line up, and look forward to what promises to be a very exciting programme.  We have a diverse range of theatre, comedy, exhibitions, music, dance and talks on offer from a range of established and emerging artists. With plenty of opportunities for festival-goers to become actively involved, we’re sure that there will be something of interest for everybody”.

Festival brochures are available from the new Birmingham LGBT Centre, venues throughout the gay village and SHOUT Festival venue partners (including mac, The Public, Eden, Fox Bar and The Fountain Inn).  An electronic version of the brochure, further information on artists and events, information on how to get tickets and Festival news is now available on the SHOUT website www.shoutfestival.co.uk.
