After meeting on the set of Orange Is The New Black, the couple tied the knot in Palm Springs.
Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli fell for each other while filming Orange Is The New Black. After announcing their engagement on Instagram last October with this heartwarming snap, the actress and writer/producer tied the knot on Saturday.
The intimate, outdoor ceremony took place in Palm Springs, California. Samira’s parents officiated and the nuptials began with a procession down the aisle to a soundtrack of Montell Jordan’s This Is How We Do It.
They wore stunning Christian Siriano outfits, Samira in an off-the-shoulder gown and Lauren in a white jumpsuit with a sweeping cape.
The whole affair was fun-filled with a confetti theme, honouring their shared love of Pillsbury Funfetti cake and their first dance was to Justin Bieber’s Baby.
Lauren, who was married to a man when she joined the OITNB team, has written a brilliant essay about coming to terms with her sexuality while working on OITNB. She wrote: “I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set.”
Following this revelation, she divorced her husband, fell in love with Samira and had the picture perfect wedding. It’s a real life lesbian fairytale.
