British singer, Sam Smith, came out as gay ahead of the launch of his album, In The Lonely Hour, earlier this year and claimed he did not want to be a “spokesperson” for gay people.

In a new interview with Ellen Degeneres today, the award-winning singer, he calrified the statement, saying

“I’m a singer and a song writer. I get upset sometimes because I don’t talk about it too much.
“People say, he doesn’t want to be a spokesperson for the gay community.
“I do, of course I do, but I want to be a spokesperson for everyone.

“Ya know straight people, gay people, bisexual. I don’t want it to be limited.”
