Every family is a family.

Each year, anticipation rises for the best Christmas advert and whilst we smile at Buster from John Lewis, we also love Sainsbury’s adorable and epic animated creation.

Set in the fictional town of Bisby it follows family man Dave who wants to spend more time at home with his loved ones over the festive period.

The advert also features same sex parents, an interracial family and a single father.

Sarah Kilmartin, Head of Broadcast Comms at Sainsbury’s said: “We wanted to reflect a modern Britain and a diverse Britain.

“That’s what we feel like we’ve done throughout the whole piece of work. We’ve made sure we’ve got a true reflection of what we see out there every day.”

A song used in the advert, ‘The Greatest Gift For Christmas Is Me’, is sung by James Corden.

Profit from The Greatest Gift campaign will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
