Puerto Rican pop singer Ricky Martin has dismissed claims by El Nuevo Dia newspaper that he is to marry.
The newspaper posted the claim online that Martin and his boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abell planned to wed on January 28th in New York.
However, a representitive for the singer told E! Online that the claim was untrue. “It is a completley incorrect report. Ricky Martin has no set plans to marry.”
Martin told Attitude magazine that he would not marry until gay marriage was legal in his home country of Puerto Rico. “I want to have the rights of anybody else in my home country. I don’t want to be a second-class citizen. I’d want to do it [marry] on the island where I was born and where I will die.”
