If you know and love good music, you’ll probably already know that the new EP from Rookes is due for release on Friday 8th November. And if you didn’t know, you do now.

The follow-up to the critically acclaimed EP The Game & The River, Rookes’ latest offering – Liminal – is inspired the artist’s two year journey amid the queer London dating scene. Pleasure, pain, joy and despair are all explored across the four tracks – Salvage, New Lovers, Liminal and Constellations – which are brought to life by the Rookes’ beautiful vocal stylings and varied melodies. All four tracks are satisfyingly contemporary, yet with unmistakable reminders of The Eurythmics in their chart-topping 80’s pomp. Skilled musicianship, brilliant writing and dazzling vocals all conspire to deliver what has already become one of my favourite 2019 releases. Don’t believe me? Pah! Check out the über-queer video right here:

Rookes will be announcing a selection of Autumn tour dates to promote the Liminal EP, hitting The Glory, London, on the 10th November, as well as Berlin on the 22nd (The Other Lab), Birmingham on the 1st December (The Sunflower Lounge) and Manchester on the 2nd (The Castle Hotel). With eight years’ live experience under her belt, I have no doubt that Rookes will bring the full force of her multi-instrumental skills, compelling songwriting and powerful vocals to every live performance.
