“Even if I’d never been assigned male at birth, I would have found my way to the stage.”

A new documentary with the working title Project Peppermint tells the story of RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Peppermint and her life as both a drag queen and a trans woman. She opens up, revealing the struggles she’s been through during her journey to fame. Before she applied to go on Drag Race, she considered sex work as her only option to pay for her transition surgery.

In this fascinating film, Peppermint addresses the question, “Can you be a trans woman and a drag queen?”

She says:

“Even if I’d never been assigned male at birth, I would have found my way to the stage. Am I going to continue to do drag and wear lashes and put on makeup and go out on stage? Yes. My spirit belongs on stage.”

Project Peppermint also features Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox and fellow Drag Race alumni Bob The Drag Queen.

There is an Indiegogo crowd funding page to raise money for the production and distribution of this exciting documentary. Project Peppermint is scheduled for release next year.
