tvcensorshipPrime Minister David Cameron has responded to newspaper reports which said he would be calling for a ban on same-sex kissing on TV before the 9pm watershed.

A spokesman for the prime minister told Newsbeat: “Those suggesting that the PM is looking at a ban are both wrong and being irresponsible.”

The reports appeared in the press on Monday 2 May.

It was alleged that the measures could be introduced later this month, after the publication of a government-commissioned study into how children were subjected to inappropriate sexual imagery by media and advertising.

The rumours sparked an outcry, with Coronation Street stars Charlie Condou and Brooke Vincent, both of whom play gay characters, publicly condemning the Prime Minister.
