Final-Pride-in-London-Logo-2The organisers of Pride in London – the festival replacing the former Pride London – have announced that the theme for this year’s event will be ‘Love (and Marriage)’.

The theme has been chosen to reflect the expected passage of equal marriage legislation this summer. Organisers have also announced that the parade – which is set to take place on Saturday 29 June 2013 will showcase community groups in chronological order of their founding.

“It will be a celebration of the history and achievements of the LGBT+ community that have led up to this year’s legislation, described by many as the final major piece of equality legislation,” said a spokesperson.

An open meeting will take place this evening – Tuesday 19 February – at 7pm at Heaven on Villiers Street, London, WC2, for anyone wishing to find out more or get involved. Anyone unable to attend can also follow proceedings, and put forward questions, via Twitter by using the hashtag #PrideinLondon

There’s also still time to nominate a representative to the organisation’s Community Advisory Board. “The CAB will be key to meeting the commitment that Pride should of, by and for the LGBT+ community in London. It has a scrutiny role and will be central to shaping the future of Pride in London.”

Nominations close on 21 February – for more details, see the official website at
