The organisers of the annual Polari First Book Prize are currently seeking submissions for this year’s prize.

Now in its third year, the Polari Prize is named after the London LGBT literary salon on the same name, which takes place monthly on the Southbank. The prize was set up to celebrate a first book, “which explores the LGBT experience and is open to any work of poetry, prose, fiction or non-fiction published in the UK in English within the twelve months of the deadline for submissions (this year 1 Feb, 2013).”

Self-published works in both print and digital formats are eligible for submission.

The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2013, and the long list of nominees will be announced in July, with a winner announced in November.

Media partner for the prize is Square Peg Media, publishers of the hit gay and lesbian lifestyle magazines Out In The City and g3.

For further details about submissions, send an email to paulburston@btinternet.com with ‘Polari First Book Prize’ in the subject field. Works must be submitted to The Polari First Book Prize by the UK publisher.

In the case of self-published works, works must be submitted with a one-page/A4 size letter of support describing why and how the project has been self-published.
