Sgt Brandon Morgan from Oakdale, California, was photographed shareing a traditional home-coming first kiss with his boyfriend in Hawaii after returning from deployment in Afghanistan.
The picture was posted on the Gay Marines Facebook page and several gay blogs before receiving more than 18,000 ‘likes’ and 4,000 comments since it appeared online on Saturday.
The photo of Sgt Morgan is the first of a male gay member of the US military with their partner, after the first photo of lesbian home-coming kiss was published in December. The US military’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy that had banned openly gay men and women from serving ended last September.
Replying to Facebook comments, Sgt Morgan said “To everyone who has responded in a positive way. My partner and I want to say thank you. “
