We’re thrilled to announce that OutNews Global has been named an Official Media Partner of the Bi-Fi Festival, the online extravaganza from Bi Pride UK taking place on Saturday 20th June.

The event will be live streamed on Twitch – twitch.tv/biprideuk. Panellists will be discussing mental health during lockdown, how to be creative from home, and being bi and BAME.

Performers will include drag queens, comedians, spoken words artists and many more. Activists and performers to be announced closer to the date. Bi Pride UK’s ultimate online party will finish with a live DJ set.

OutNews Global editor Rob Harkavy said, “I’m absolutely delighted to be working with the brilliant folk at Bi Pride. Even though the “B” in LGBT represents the largest population within the LGBTQ+ community, there is still a major issue with bi-erasure and biphobia.

“I hope that by giving Bi Pride a mouthpiece we can do our bit to help support all those fabulous folk who identifies as bisexual, biromantic, pan, pansexual, queer, fluid and everyone who experiences attraction beyond gender.”

Lev Alexander, Head of Media at Bi Pride UK added, “We are absolutely ecstatic to be partnering with OutNews Global and have been admirers of their content for a really long time. The magazine is super compelling and important for the bi community, along with the entire LGBTQ+ community.

“We hope that by partnering with this fabulous online magazine, we can further amplify bi visibility and ensure those who experience attraction beyond gender not only have a voice, but one that is listened to and celebrated.

“It’s amazing that OutNews are joining our mission to distinguish bi erasure and biphobia, while championing and rejoicing all bi identities and allies.”

24% of bisexuals say that their sexuality has not come up in conversation with friends and family, meaning many are feeling isolated and alone in their homes, during the lockdown period. Bisexuals are at a higher risk of dealing with mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, and physical health issues, compared to other sexualities. Virtual events connecting the bi community are vital during the lockdown and periods of social distancing, for bi people’s mental health and well-being.
