uruguayUruguayan campaigners ‘Colectivo Ovejas Negras’, or The Black Sheep Collective, have created a television campaign in support of legalising same-sex marriage.

The advert features 34 Uruguayan celebrities offering their support. It is a first for the country and marks a landmark in the fight for marriage equality in Uruguay.

The country introduced a marriage-equality bill three months ago in parliament.

Alvaro Queiruga, who spearheads the collective, says “The bill—written by Uruguay’s first transgendered lawyer—will soon be discussed by parliament, and we’re optimistic”.
