113461-michele-bachmannOutspoken anti-gay politician Michelle Bachmann has quit the race to be the Republican party’s presidential candidate after winning just five per cent of votes in the state of Iowa.

During a press conference in West Des Moines, Bachmann said “”Last night the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice and so I have decided to stand aside.”

Despite gaining significant media attention, Bachmann’s campaign nosedived amid financial strain, factual inaccuracies and the attention drawn by her husband, Steve, who was accused of running a Christian counseling practice which reportedly tried to “cure” homosexuality.
