gayfreezoneAn 18-year-old suspect has been arrested after police uncovered evidence that he was involved in a homophobic sticker campaign in east London.


The man was arrested on a public order offence. He has been bailed and is due to be questioned further on 8 May.

The stickers began to appear in February. They bore the message: ‘Arise and warn. Gay free zone. Verily Allah is severe in punishment’.

Anyone with information which may help the investigation is being urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting background log number B13/LUA of 29/03/2011.
