Two men have been injured after being assaulted in the Rainbow and Dove in Charles Street, Leicester.

The attack occurred around 12.40am yesterday morning in the pub garden and left one of the men badly burnt.

Both men aged 22 and 20 have been taken to Nottingham City Hospital and are in a stable condition.

A 24 year-old man has been arrested in connection to the attack and is currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Simon Preston said: “This was a horrific incident which has resulted in one person receiving significant burn injuries and the other with injuries to his hands.

The suspect was described as a white man in his early to mid-20s, wearing a dark hoodie.

DI Preston added: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation.  We are treating the incident as an assault but we are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
