MalaysiaMalaysia’s women’s minister, Sharizat Abdul Jalil, has condemned a camp set up by teachers to eradicate effeminate behaviour in 66 male Muslim pupils.

The boys are being subjected to four days of religious and physical instruction which, according to an education official, are designed to set them on to “a proper path in life”.

Jalil says that sending the children, who are aged between 13 and 17, to the camp violates the Child Act and is therefore illegal.

Gay sex is illegal in Malaysia, with sodomy carrying a 20-year prison sentence.
