Derek Frost is an eminent designer, entrepreneur and now author who, with his partner J, has been at the forefront of the fight against AIDS since the 1980s. He was also instrumental in founding the legendary gay club Heaven while growing his global reputation as a designer.

In this interview Derek discusses the motivation behind writing Living and Loving in the Age of AIDS, vividly recalling the early days of the “gay plague” and marking its progression from a death sentence to a condition which, in the developed world at least, can be managed with relative ease.

Part memoir, part historical document, Living and Loving in the age of AIDS is essential reading and the ideal companion piece to the Russell T Davies Channel 4 drama It’s a Sin.
