JonahMowryThe mother of the 14-year-old gay teenager who touched the hearts of people around the world with his YouTube video about bullying has spoken out.

Peggy Sue Mowry, a 52-year-old hairdresser from California told ABC News that her son has been “uplifted” by the amount of support he has received online since his video from August went viral this week.

“First and foremost, I am proud of the responses we’ve gotten from people,” said Mowry, “I’m disappointed that people would question whether [the video] is true.”

Jonah’s video even got the attention of celebrities such as gay singer Ricky Martin and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who both sent him messages of support.
