JohnBercowJohn Bercow MP, the Speaker of the House of Commons, has agreed to speak at the launch of the World Pride Power List at London’s exclusive Home House.

The list, which is the first global list of influential LGBT people, will be published in The Guardian on the 7th July, the day of World Pride.

John Bercow has always been a champion for diversity, in particular gay rights. In September 2011 he became the President of the Kaleidoscope Trust, a UK based charity who work globally to end discrimination based on sexual orientation.

In a speech made in May 2012 Mr Bercow highlighted the plight of gay men and women in 41 of the 54 Commonwealth countries where it is still illegal to be homosexual, including 5 where the maximum penalty is death.

Mr Bercow is likely to highlight the positive influence that high profile gay men and women are having on younger generations who are now more comfortable coming out than ever before.

The VIP breakfast launch of the World Pride Power List will be attended by many of the high profile men and women on the list, which is being kept strictly under wraps until the day of World Pride.
