Labour Party leader has been a long-standing supporter of LGBT rights.

The Leader of the Opposition’s Office in the House of Commons held a reception on Wednesday celebrating the LGBT movement’s significant contribution to our country and the world at large.

Jeremy Corbyn gave an impassioned speech about solidarity with people whatever their sexuality.

Speaking alongside Rotherham MP Sarah Champion, Mr Corbyn told key LGBT campaigners and invited guests: “We’re with you, we’re in solidarity with you. Your triumphs are our triumphs.”

He has also pledged that a future Labour government would “actively update” the national curriculum to reflect the fight for gay rights.

The changes would be brought in to present a more positive image of the LGBT community as well as inform pupils about the struggle of gay people in history.
