Gala to benefit Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund.

Once a year the New York LGBT gliterati come together for a unique gala fund raiser – one that rises above all others for over-the-top glamour. That event is The Imperial Court of New York’s Night of a Thousand Gowns, a black tie dinner dance and coronation ball to be held on Saturday, March 11 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, New York City.

Celebrating diversity with humour and heart, the Imperial Court of New York will once again put the ‘fun into fundraising’. The 2017 beneficiary will be the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund.

The event presents one luminary per year with the Imperial Diamond Award for service to the LGBT community. This year’s recipient is Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar award winner for best original screenplay of Milk. His career has spanned writing, direction, producing and editing for the movies and television. His credits include movies Pedro, Virginia, J. Edgar and When We Rise. Throughout his career he has been an active and visible advocate for LGBT rights.

Honorary Chair is Sir Ian McKellen, one of the leading lights of stage and screen throughout the world. Sir Ian will accept the prestigious Fredd E. Tree Spirit of Stonewall award.

Grammy nominated Linda Clifford headlines the event with the inimitable Sarah Dash of Labelle fame performing Labelle favourites alongside her own hit tunes. Verna Turbulence can be counted on for a spectacular production number and Bella Nicole Harlow, who’s won every cisgirl pagent from here to everywhere, adds her vocal pyrotechnics.
