Liverpool’s gay festival launched last night at the Hope Street Hotel and is a celebration of the city’s LGBT culture.

The festival itself will begin next week on November 1 with the theme of ‘Cruising For Art’, and will show case dance, film, and cabaret from across the diverse LGBT culture of the city.

Exhibitions visitors can attend include ‘Savage Style’, a collection of Lily Savage’s dresses amongst 20 other events taking place across the city in November.

Homotopia have had a big year as it achieved National Portfolio status in August, this means it can receive long term funding from the Arts Council England.

The festival is a celebration of the 21st century LGBT life through the arts, and it will feature four world premieres and five new commissions.

Highlights this year include Earthfall’s award-winning dance theatre piece At Swim Two Boys, which is staged entirely in water.

A screening of the documentary Rock Hudson: Dark and Handsome Stranger, and La John Hoseph’s show Underclass Hero, a story on his life growing up in Liverpool.
