Brighton is renowned as one of the LGBTQ capitals of the world, with its reputation stretching far beyond the confines of these islands. Brighton Pride, one of the best in the country, is a must-visit for tens of thousands of happy revellers every year, while LGBTQ youth, often shunned at home, up sticks and head south for the chance of a better, more accepting life.

But there’s another side to Brighton, as revealed here by film maker and local resident Eva Marie Wilshere. Incidences of homelessness among gay youth are on the rise as austerity continues to bite…and this film exposes what Brighton life is like for those who live in the shadows, away from the rainbow flags and the partying.
