Britain’s first gay surrogate parents have walked from court after the collapse of their trial that claimed they had tampered with test results from clinical trials at their medical research company.

42 year-old Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his partner, 47 year-old Tony Drewitt-Barlow were cleared with charges against them from the Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Tony Drewitt-Barlow Said: “We are delighted that the jury found us not guilty of all charges and that this nightmare is finally over.”

The millionaire couple of Danbury, Essex first hit the headlines in 1999 when they were the first gay couple to be named on their children’s birth certificates, and had a civil partnership in 2006.

The couple’s co-defendants who worked for their former company Euroderm Research were also cleared of all charges.
