Ft. Lauderdale is one of the nation’s best cities for gay-friendly retirement today, according to SeniorAdvice.com, a senior housing referral service.

According to the American Psychological Association, more than 1.5 million people in the U.S. age 65 years or older identify as LGBT. Furthermore, as the baby boomer generation ages, the senior population will increase from 12.8 percent to an estimated 19 percent in 2030, meaning that the LGBT senior numbers undoubtedly will grow as well.
