ukipA former MEP for the UK Independence Party, who had previously established a case against her former party, may have the chance to be reheard.

Nikki Sinclaire, who is gay and who was MEP for the West Midlands, charged UKIP with sexual discrimination after the whip was removed following her refusal to sit with certain members an Italian party, some of whom were openly homophobic.

Lega Nord is a far-right Italian party with whom UKIP were working, but Ms Sinclaire’s refusal to sit with them led to sanctions by Nigel Farage, UKIP party leader, against her.

She told the Coventry Telegraph that the question of her working with homophobic individuals was “ridiculous.” She said, “You would not expect a black MEP to sit next to sit next to a Ku Klux Klan member, so why would you expect me to sit next to someone who wanted me dead?”
