One of the Netflix shows that has been creating a lot of buzz lately is “Queer Eye”, the TV show created to help everyone look and feel their best. For those of you who don’t know (is there anyone who doesn’t know about this show?) “Queer Eye” is the reboot of the TV show of the same name that was aired during the early 2000s and gained a lot of attention.

This time around, Netflix decided to help people not only look their best, but also help them get their mindset right on track. The Fab Five, the five “queer eyes” in the show, are also there to help their guests with their wardrobe, diet, and grooming. Suffice it to say that we can all learn so much from these five guys, and one of those things is skincare. And who’s being our skincare guru in this show? The fabulous, amazing, and unique Jonathan Van Ness, and these are his 5 skincare lessons that will help us look fresh and young:

Sunscreen is king. Or queen.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that one of the most important tips regarding skincare is using sunscreen regularly. The UV rays can be very, very damaging, and contrary to popular belief, they can be harmful on cloudy days as well. This is also the number cause of premature ageing, so you will need a sunscreen that fits your face type. Use it regularly and remember that the UV rays can penetrate through clouds, so use sunscreen during fautimn and winter on bright days, even if it’s cold outside.

You don’t have to spend a lot of time pampering.

In the first episode of “Queer Eye”, Jonathan van Ness said that just because you only want to spend five minutes in the morning on glam it doesn’t mean that you can’t be a diva. And this is entirely true – you don’t have to spend hours in front of the mirror to look amazing. The thing is that you have to use those five minutes in the best possible way and use good products. Apart from cleansing, moisturising, and exfoliating, if you have an acne problem it would be great to opt for an acne removal treatment, because this will result in a more effective future skincare routine for you.

Use home made masks.

The first season of this TV show also features an incredible discovery – DIY masks are really worth your while! One of the best ones you can use is a mask made out of a blend of oats and manuka honey. Blending everything together and applying the paste on your face for ten minutes will soften and moisturise your skin in an amazing way. This mask, in particular, is very rich in antioxidants, and it is beneficial for sensitive skin.

The eyes don’t lie.

Having a good eye wrinkle remover is an excellent place to start. You want to use a cream that will target collagen-producing cells and stimulate them to regenerate your skin’s natural abilities.

Confidence is key…and sexy.

You can be the wealthiest person in the world and spend all the money you have on skincare products and treatments, but unless you’re walking confidently and wearing it with style, none of it actually matters. Jonathan van Ness even says that confidence is sexy, and this can really make or break your final look. Do whatever you can to keep your skin fresh and young and be confident and show the world how satisfied you are.

But apart from these simple yet useful and effective skincare routine tips, there is so much more that “Queer Eye” can teach you. We should really all be thankful for having such content served to us that is not only entertaining but educational as well.
