nepalTwo American women have just taken part in the first public lesbian marriage ceremony in Nepal.

Courtney Mitchell, 41, and Sarah Welton, 48, exchanged vows on Monday in a Kathmandu temple.

After the ceremony, they celebrated their union at a star-studded reception alongside celebrities, campaigners and politicians.

Gay rights group Blue Diamond Society and gay travel company Pink Mountain Travel helped organise the wedding.

Gay weddings are not officially part of Nepalese law, but if a priest agrees to conduct them they are usually accepted.
