Following on the heels of its sold out world premiere screening at BFI Flare, DAWN, the latest film from trans wunderkind Jake Graf, has been selected into the world’s largest and oldest LGBT film festival – Frameline.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, boasts an annual attendance of 60,000 to 80,000.
Starring Nicole Gibson and Harry Rundle, DAWN is an exquisitely filmed study in human connection, and breaks new ground in the representation of trans lives on screen.
Synopsis: As dawn creeps across London, two lost outcasts meet in the darkness, more afraid of themselves than each other. The sun begins to rise, and the veil of night is lifted, forcing the pair to look at themselves and face the harsh reality of life’s tribulations. And yet, in the promise of a new day, an unexpected revelation shows that it takes more than the eyes to see inside a soul.
Says Jake Graf of the announcement, “Seeing audience reaction to Dawn so far has been truly humbling, and screening anywhere is a buzz, but I am absolutely over the moon to be returning to Frameline. It is easily one of my favourite international festivals, and a huge honour to be screening with them in their 40th year. DAWN was a real labour of love, but taking it to San Francisco will doubtless give the whole team a huge boost, and spur us on to tell more important queer stories that will hopefully change lives.”
