An Oxfordshire resident has found the perfect home for a fresh start at Kingfisher Meadows in Witney.

Software Designer Paul White (35) decided to ditch his parent’s house in the South West for a three bedroom semi-detached Archford style home at the development on Burford Road. A native to Somerset, Paul said: “Due to circumstantial changes during lockdown, I had to temporarily move back in with my parents which wasn’t ideal at my age.

“I was eager to get my own space, so I went on the hunt for my ideal home. I’ve been a homeowner in the past, but I sold my first home 16 years ago and a lot has changed! With Help to Buy and a sizeable deposit from my parents, I found the Kingfisher Meadows development and knew it was the place for me.

“The development felt so open and airy, and the Sales Advisers were really helpful – even after I moved in! I ended up falling in love with the house I chose and reserved it there and then.”

Paul wasn’t always sold on the idea of a new build home. He said: “Initially I didn’t want to move into a new build home, because my attitude was that they lacked character or substance.

“Kingfisher Meadows completely changed my perception. Not only is every house unique in its own way, the design is also really well considered. David Wilson Homes exceeded my expectations of quality and character, and my arm was twisted when I discovered that I would receive a 10 year warranty. It’s just total peace of mind!”

Luckily, Paul experienced love at first sight with the house he reserved. He added: “I have a driveway that fits three cars, I think that’s my favourite bit! I initially wanted a detached house because I was concerned about hearing my neighbours, but I haven’t heard anything which I think is a testament to how well they’re built.

“I’m really proud to own a house here, and when I walk in the door I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be. I regularly find myself smiling and thinking, ‘I can’t believe this is my house and I own it!’ The only thing I want to do now is get a cat.”

Being a self-confessed “country boy,” Paul was adamant that he didn’t want to leave the countryside charm and the open space behind. He continued: “I knew I wanted to live around the Cotswolds, and when I turned into the development it just felt like it was a lovely place to be.

“A community has been created here, and I’ve made friends with other homeowners on the development. After finding myself freshly single, I felt a little isolated, but living here has definitely changed all that. It’s been wonderful having such lovely people around me that I can now call friends.”

In the process of purchasing his home, Paul took advantage of the Help to Buy scheme: “I was sceptical at first as I didn’t really understand it. The Sales Advisers recommended a Mortgage Adviser to me who explained everything clearly and answered any questions, they even filled out the paperwork for me.”

Despite being a homeowner in the past, the new incentives and process changes made Paul feel like a first time buyer again. He had some advice for buyers searching for their first home: “Don’t ever write anything off, and go and see everything just in case.

“I was absolutely convinced that I didn’t want to buy a new build home, and I’d viewed nine older properties. But when I stepped into this house I knew it was everything I wanted, and what was originally viewing a house on a whim, turned out to be me finding my dream home.”

Kingfisher Meadows has a range of three and four bedroom homes available, no Stamp Duty to pay on homes up to £500,000. The development is walking distance from Witney, and is 17 miles away from Junction 9 of the M40.

The development is now open on an appointment only basis. To book an appointment contact the sales enquiry line on 033 3355 8479. For more information visit www.dwh.co.uk/kingfishermeadows
