Hundreds march in Amsterdam to support beaten gay couple.

Local media reported that Jasper Vernes-Sewratan and Ronnie Sewratan-Vernes were beaten up as they walked through the town of Arnhem early on Sunday.

One of the victims allegedly lost four teeth and suffered a split lip.

Democracy party D66 leader, Alexander Pechthold, sparked a social network frenzy when he was photographed arriving at parliament in The Hague after the attack holding the hand of a male colleague.

Others soon showed their support with images being shared via the hashtags #handinhand and #allemannenhandinhand (all men hand in hand).

As the hashtags went viral photos have been posted by politicians, police officers, celebrities, athletes, business people, and more.

The Dutch Embassy in London also showed solidarity by tweeting a picture of them walking hand-in-hand, following similar images from the Dutch delegation at the United Nations in New York.
