Co-oplogo-772703This year, as well as being “good with food”, the Co-operative are showing that they are good with gay rights too, by sponsoring this weekend’s Manchester Pride.

150 members of their Respect LGBT network will also be marching in the parade, living up to their reputation as one of the biggest and most vibrant entries along the route.

Britain’s Got Talent stars The Showbears will join them, and will be singing songs chosen by Co-operative group employees.  Shaun Godwin Rotherham of The Showbears commented, “The Showbears are overjoyed to support The Co-operative’s Respect network in the parade. The Co-operative works in harmony with lots of LGBT charities and organisations and we are proud to be a part of their support of Manchester Pride. We are all looking forward to joining in the fun on the day. We will all be sparkling with pride.”

The Co-operative group are also supporting LGBT charities involved in the pride weekend. They have donated thousands of bottles of water for the volunteers of the Albert Kennedy Trust and George House to help them throughout the weekend.

The Respect LGBT Network were recently shortlisted for a European Diversity Award in the Pfizer Outstanding Employee Network Group of the Year category.
