Television regulator Ofcom are assessing what action to take against Channel 5 after they aired a Celebrity Big Brother contestant’s homophobic comments.

More than 350 complaints were made after the pre-recorded entry video for ex-UKIP spokesperson, Winston McKenzie, was aired on Channel 5. In the video McKenzie said he would “cope with a homosexual in the house” by “standing against a brick wall all the time”.

Fellow housemates John Partridge and Christopher Maloney are both openly gay.

Former boxer, McKenzie is currently a member of the English Democrats, having previously been removed from his position in UKIP. In 2012 after he launched a rant aimed at gay parents calling their raising children ‘abuse’. He is currently standing as a candidate in the London Mayoral race.

On Friday, the show will host its first eviction from the Celebrity Big Brother house.
