A man  allegedly poured hydrochloric acid into a lubricant dispenser at Aarows nightclub in Sydney.

According to the ABC, the venue was the Aarows Club, which describes itself as ‘Sydney’s gay and bi social club’.

Police said security detained the man after he set off an alarm. The alarms were fitted after items in the room had previously been tampered with in a similar way.

Hydrochloric acid is highly corrosive but fortunately nobody was injured as a result of his actions.

The man was detained by security and taken to Parramatta police station, where he was charged with administer poison intend to injure/cause distress/pain, enter building with intent to commit an indictable offence, malicious damage, and drive while suspended.

He has been granted bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court next month.

The Aarows Club also made headlines in 2013 over an attempted murder in the carpark.
