Alison Moyet, three times Brit award winner, Grammy nominee and patron of award-winning anti-bullying charity Diversity Role Models, is to perform at the charity’s gala dinner.

The event is to be held tonight at the Waldorf Hilton in London, where Alison will perform a live set with her band.

Alison, who has sold in excess of 20 million recordings, joins popular broadcaster and fellow Patron, Clare Balding, who will host the dinner. The evening is being organised by media entrepreneur and DRM Patron, Linda Riley, CEO of the Global Diversity Company and publisher of OutNews Global and DIVA magazine.

Chief Executive and founder of Diversity Role Models, Suran Dickson, said: “We are thrilled to have Alison Moyet performing at our gala dinner on 11 November. I’m sure that she will electrify the room and make it a night to remember for all our guests. Lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender students are three times more likely than other children to attempt suicide and one in six has received death threats. The funds we raise will be invaluable in helping us change attitudes and – ultimately – eradicate homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying.”

Alison Moyet said: “To support Diversity Role Models is to support our children. Every family is diverse and every child has the right to grow into their own shape without intimidation or humiliation. Not a big ask for any young person. I am very proud to be associated with Diversity Role Models.”

Celebrities including Graham Norton, Charlie Condou, Wegan, Rachel Shelley and Stella Duffy will also be attending in support of the charity.

By using positive role models to counter negative stereotypes in schools, Diversity Role Models has already had an encouraging impact. It delivers pioneering pro-diversity workshops in schools across the country to counter stigma and stereotypes based on sexuality and gender identity.
