OutNews Global are delighted to have been confirmed as an Official Media Partner of the inaugural Australian Pride Power List, which was published on Friday 1st March.

OutNews Global Editor Rob Harkavy commented, “I am thrilled that OutNews Global is partnering with this groundbreaking venture. While 12,000 miles may separate those of us in the United Kingdom from our Australian brothers and sisters, no two nations could be closer in their progressive attitudes to LGBTI equality, diversity and inclusion. Back in 2017, OutNews Global were active and vociferous participants in the Australian campaign for equal marriage, and although that battle has now been won, we remain committed to working with our Aussie siblings to call out and help eradicate prejudice and inequality wherever we may find it.”

Comedian and art historian Hannah Gadsby tops the list of Australia’s 50 most influential LGBTI personalities. The List is compiled from on open, online nomination process.

Figures from sport, business and politics are also honoured, with politican Penny Wong, actor and model Ruby Rose and Qantas CEO Alan Joyce also featuring in the top ten.

The List’s publisher, Linda Riley, is the co-founder of the Australian LGBTI Awards, as well as the UK’s Pride Power List, which is published in both OutNews Global and mainstream British newspaper The Guardian

Riley commented, “Australia is an open and tolerant society, and the 2017 legislation for equal marriage is emblematic of the amazing strides the country has made towards LGBTI equality in recent years. However, the fact remains that discrimination still exists in the workplace and in wider society as a whole, and we believe that – by shining a light on those whose achievements further the cause of LGBTI equality – we can play our part in helping to eradicate to scourge of discrimination.”

Publication of the List coincides with the third Australian LGBTI Awards, which Riley also co-founded.
